Some of the Finest Dry
Fly Fishing ..............
"And so one may wander on
up the riverbank under bowers of roses, with irises on
one side and on the other tall masses of marguerites,
hollyhocks, phloxes and delphiniums, and see the trout
lying everywhere on the gravel of the babbling shallows,
till one passes out into the open water meadows."
Alan Haig Brown - 'My Game Book'
- on his memories fishing Wrackleford.
Whilst less famous than some of its bigger chalk stream
rivals, the River Frome offers wonderful varied trout
fishing as it meanders down its course. Five of our beats
are on the main river, with the sixth on a carrier, and the seventh on the Sydling Brook
tributary. The Sydling Brook is an extrmely sporting Wild
Trout stream, crossing the Langford and Sydling Water
meadows. The Frome beats are on the main river around
the village of Stratton. Beats are suitable for 1 or two rods - see the beat information for more details.
"The fishing on the Frome is brilliant. It must be one of the prettiest and clearest waters that I have ever come across."
"I have been to The Baron's Court, River Meon and the Test in the past but the Frome provided the best fishing condition and the quality/quantity of the fish was superb. "

Each beat is well tended, and wild fish are supplemented
with stocking. We do try and offer a blend of well maintained
banks, with conveniently positioned seats, without destroying
the natural beauty of these chalk streams. Wading is allowed on all beats, but most fishing is possible from the banks.
Fishing can either be taken on a 'Day Ticket' basis, or as a regular 'Season Rod'. Day tickets reserve a beat at the time of booking and that stretch of water is then exclusively yours to fish from dawn till dusk for one day. We offer a limited number of Season Rods whereby the Season Rod holder is allocated a fishing beat each week of the season on a set day of the week. You will fish a different beat each week as it rotates through each one in the fishery. The Low Season Rod option is similar to the 'Season Rod', however it is valid only for April, July to October.
