The Shooting Lodge offers the most wonderful, relaxed accommodation and in conjunction with dry fly fishing on the River Frome its position as a holiday location is unrivalled.

Sitting high on the Dorset downs, set in a small coppice containing wild fruits and flowers, commanding spectacular views south towards the coast - this was the setting used by Thomas Hardy in his 'The Three Strangers' (see link for more details).

One mile from the nearest main road makes it remote and rural, but only two hours from London makes it easily accessible.

Bed linen and hand towels are all provided (but please bring your own large beach towels), as well as tea-towels and essential cleaning materials. A small supply of logs are provided, and additional logs can be purchased on request.

The lodge can be let on either a weekly basis, or at certain times of the year from a part week basis (either Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday). Changeover for weekly lets are on a Friday unless otherwise stated.

 
 
Living Areas

The Kitchen is well equipped with large fridge / freezer, catering gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle and toaster and plenty of crockery. Includes a Tassimo coffee machine by Bosch suitable for Tassimo coffee pods.

The Main Living area is a large open plan room with traditional dining table with plenty of seating and soft seating facing large inglenook fireplace. The focal point of this room is a 42 candle chandelier (oil filled candles pre filled on your arrival) TV with freesat .

Cloakroom and Bathrooms There is a separate cloakroom off the snooker room, There are additionally a further two bathrooms with bath and showers, and two ensuite shower rooms.

Central Heating is gas fired with radiators throughout the property.

Open log fires are able to be used in both the main living area and the snooker room. A small supply of logs is provided with additional able to be purchased at the time if required.

WIFI and Broadband is available throughout the property and is provided via a 4G connection which achieves speeds of around 12mbs .

 
Bedrooms

The Rose Room is on the first floor and has a kingsize bed with internal balcony overlooking snooker room, and private bathroom with shower over.

The Honeysuckle Room is on the first floor and has twin beds with a small en-suite shower room.

The Deer Stalkers Room is on the ground floor with twin beds and has an ensuite shower and bathroom.

The Old Beaters Room is on the ground floor with twin beds and has an ensuite shower room.

 
Outside

The Garden To the front of the property with open views towards the coast is a lawned area open to fields beyond. There is a paved patio with outside dining table and kettle bbq.

Parking and access for plenty of cars (at least 5) on the gravelled drive. The lodge accessed via a private farm track - it is level and firm but not tarmacked.
