Royal Framboise has been associated with Eldridge Pope for as long as anyone can reliably remember. Made by Bernard Massard — Luxembourg’s most celebrated sparkling wine producer, with a history stretching back to 1921 — it’s a sparkling raspberry wine that manages to be genuinely fruit-forward without tipping into cloying sweetness.
Light, gently fizzy and best served very cold, it works as an aperitif before lunch, alongside a dessert, or simply on its own when the occasion doesn’t need to justify itself. It’s the kind of bottle that gets opened with very little prompting and runs out faster than expected.
One bottle serves four as a starter or two as the main event. Best served at around 6–8°C, straight from the fridge.
